Babies, Blossoms & Beautiful Beginnings

April has come and gone like a soft breeze through a blossoming orchard, and I wanted to take a quiet moment to reflect on all the beauty, growth, and gratitude this past month has gifted me.

Doula Babies & Cherished Reunions

At the very start of the month, I had the absolute joy of seeing three of my beautiful doula babies again—oh, how time dances on! One sweet little soul will be turning one this summer (how?!), and two radiant sisters, now five and two, filled my heart to the brim. I supported their mama through both births—once as a doula, and once as both doula and birth photographer. These little reunions always feel like meeting old friends… except smaller, and much more giggly.

Photo Sessions, Community Love & A Surprise Pregnancy

Photography-wise, April was glowing. I had the honour of capturing several maternity and newborn sessions, each one a little love story unfolding in front of my lens.

I was also invited by my local community to photograph the Easter flowers and the church itself at our beloved local parish—what a beautiful way to celebrate new life and spring awakening.

And then… a surprise that touched my heart deeply—another lovely mama is expecting and has asked me to be her doula. This mama is more than a future client—she’s a neighbour and dear friend. Supporting her again feels like such a full-circle blessing.

Award-Winning Birth Photography

Something else that still has me pinching myself—I received three photography awards for my birth work this month: two silver awards and one bronze. Being recognised in such a raw, emotional, and sacred field is beyond humbling. Every birth is its own epic, powerful story, and I’m endlessly honoured to be the one holding the camera when life begins.

On-Call Life & A Nourishing Night Out

As April came to a close, I returned to on-call mode—not as a photographer this time, but as a doula ( no pictures sadly ) . These moments of quiet presence and fierce support always ground me and remind me why I do this sacred work.

Balancing out the busy came a soul-filling evening with dear friends at a cosy Turkish restaurant in Epsom. The food? Divine. The energy? Light and lovely. The women's conversation? Rich, sparkly, heartfelt. The men? Well… they talked about man things. We let them have their moment. 😉

Garden Magic & Growing Joy

Beyond the studio and sacred birth spaces, April has been bursting with earthy joy in my garden—my own little corner of Eden. I'm officially calling it an orchard now (because if you plant it, name it!) with seven fruit trees: apple, plum, lemon, olive, peach, tangerine, and cherry. We’ve also got grapevines, raspberry and blackberry bushes, and more than enough greens to keep us fed and feeling proud.

We’ve already harvested:

✅ Radishes ✅ Lettuce ✅ Spinach

Growing strong right now:

🍅 Tomatoes (5 varieties!) 🥒 Cucumbers 🍉 Melons & Watermelons 🧅 Onions 🥕 Carrots (so excited!) 🌽 Corn

🥔 Potatoes (because honestly, what's a garden without them?) 💚 Runner beans 🌿 Rhubarb 💜 Beetroots

🌱 Asparagus (ready in 3 years—LOL!)

And the herbs! Oh, the herbs are a little apothecary of their own:

🌼 Chamomile—like sunshine in flower form 🍋 Lemon balm for calm cups of tea at twilight 🌿 Apple mint & classic mint—cooling, fragrant, and ever so cheeky 🌿 Oregano—because every garden needs a little Italian flair 🍓 Strawberries, slowly ripening under the spring sun 🌿 Parsley, coriander, and basil—fresh, bold, and destined for summer dishes.

And I must confess… now that I’m reading all that I’m growing—it’s feeling like a lot! Maybe even a little overwhelming… LOL. But oh, what a wild and beautiful kind of chaos. My heart is full, my hands are muddy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

the Flowers… Always the Flowers 🌸

Oh, my flower babies are thriving too!

In bloom and sprouting: Hydrangeas, cosmos, sweet peas, foxgloves, zinnias (too many!), marigolds, echinacea, statice, sunflowers, poppies, and a dreamy mix of wildflowers.

I may have treated myself to another wisteria (because there’s no such thing as too many tendrils of purple magic), and my three rose bushes are absolutely flourishing. This garden has become a daily reminder of patience, care, and wild beauty. Much like motherhood itself.

Here's to May...

April, you were a garden of gifts.

Here’s to May—may it be soft, fruitful, and full of light.

With petals in my hair and soil on my hands,
