Relaxed, Real & At Home
Bringing a tiny new human into the world turns life wonderfully upside down. Between feeding, snuggling, and trying to remember if you brushed your teeth this morning, the thought of having a photographer come over might feel like... well, a lot.
But here’s the truth: your newborn session at home should feel calm, slow, and maybe even a little healing — not stressful. I promise.
I’ve photographed so many beautiful babies across Beckenham, Bromley, and South London, and here are a few gentle tips to help you feel ready (without adding extra jobs to your list).

1; No need for a spotless house — really.
This is always the first thing parents worry about. But truly, I don’t care if there’s laundry on the sofa or baby bottles on the counter. I usually work near your biggest windows or in the master bedroom, so just clear bedside tables and fluff the bed if you can. That’s it.
Your home is part of your story — toys, cups of tea, and all.
2; Keep baby comfy in something simple.
Neutral, soft, and easy to slip on and off is best. A plain vest, a knitted romper, or a cosy swaddle works beautifully.
And if you don’t have the ‘perfect’ outfit — don’t worry! I always bring a small collection of knitted neutral pieces from my newborn wardrobe. These are gentle on baby’s skin and photograph timelessly.
You don’t have to shop for anything special. I’ve got you covered.
3; Feed baby just before I arrive.
A full tummy often means a sleepy, content baby, which is ideal for those curly, peaceful shots. But babies run the show — so if they need another feed during the session, we pause, top them up, and carry on.
There’s never any rush.
4; Dress yourself in something soft and simple.
This isn’t the time for stiff, formal clothes (unless you really want to!). Choose something you feel comfortable and pretty in — flowy dresses, oversized jumpers, a favourite cardigan. Soft neutral tones always look timeless in photos and won’t clash with baby’s outfit.
If you’re not sure, send me a picture of your options — I love helping style my mamas.
5; Relax and enjoy your baby.
This might sound obvious, but it’s the most important thing: let the morning unfold naturally. Cuddle, feed, breathe them in. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but mostly I capture your real moments — tiny toes, sleepy yawns, the way you look at them when you think no one’s watching.
Your job is just to love your baby. Mine is to preserve it forever.
Bonus tip: You’re in safe hands.
I’ve spent years photographing babies and supporting new families in Beckenham, Bromley and across South London. I bring everything we need: my camera, cosy wraps, and all the patience in the world.
