Some stories begin long before the moment you pick up your camera.
Five years ago, I photographed a tiny newborn boy in his mother’s arms, sitting in this same wooden rocking chair by the window. The light was soft, the air was calm, and love filled every inch of that room. This month, I came back, same family, same home, same chair, but this time, a baby girl was nestled where her brother once lay.
As a newborn photographer in Beckenham, moments like these remind me why I do what I do.
Why I Love In-Home Newborn Photography
There is something sacred about photographing a newborn in their own home. The space where they were first held, where siblings tiptoe in for cuddles, where parents learn each other’s new rhythms. In-home sessions create a sense of calm that simply cannot be replicated in a studio. Babies feel more relaxed. Parents do not have to rush or pack a thing. And the images carry the warmth and authenticity of real life. For this session, we stayed close to the window, letting the natural light fall gently across them. No posing. No rush. Just quiet connection.

Seeing the same rocking chair five years later felt almost symbolic, a reminder of how time moves, but love only deepens.
