My 2026 Goals. Being busy, but with intention

Birth, maternity and newborn photographer in London, South London, Bromley and Beckenham.

I have been thinking a lot about the word busy.

For a long time, busy felt like survival. Saying yes because I needed to. Holding my breath and hoping things would work out, 2026 feels different.

This year, my goal is to be busy on purpose. Busy with the right clients. Busy in a way that still feels calm. Busy without losing myself in the process.

Being busy with the right people

When I say I want to be busy, I do not mean overwhelmed. I mean inquiries that feel aligned, conversations that feel easy, families who understand my work before we even speak.

I have learned the hard way that not every inquiry is meant to become a booking, and that saying yes just because I need the money always comes at a cost later.

In 2026, I am choosing differently. I want to attract families who value calm, trust, and presence. People who are not trying to control every detail. People who want their story documented honestly, not staged or forced. I am no longer interested in time wasters or misaligned expectations. Not because I am rigid, but because my energy matters.

Protecting my nervous system and my creativity

I am not here to walk on eggshells.

I want to show up as myself, chatty when it feels right, quiet when it feels right, creative without fear of being judged, present without worrying about being misunderstood.

My work flows best when I feel safe, when I feel respected, when I am trusted, so one of my biggest goals for 2026 is protecting that space. Keeping my business calm, candid, fluid, and serene.

Not changing who I am to fit someone else’s expectations, allowing my creativity to come and go naturally. Unapologetically me.

Consistent inquiries and monthly sessions from a practical point of view, I want consistency.

Weekly inquiries.

Monthly sessions.

A rhythm that feels steady rather than chaotic.

I know that to reach this, I need to be visible in the right places, In 2026 I want to shift my focus away from relying so heavily on social media, especially Instagram. Instead of pouring all my energy into platforms that disappear after a few hours, I want to invest more time into my own space.

That means:

Writing and publishing more blog posts on my website , sharing real stories, reflections, and session insights that live long term, showing up more consistently on my Google Business profile for local families

my website is where I want my work to grow roots, Birth photography will play a big role in this, birth work gives me life, it brings meaning, depth, and joy into my business in a way nothing else does. Booking births is not just a financial goal. It is an emotional and creative one.

Financial clarity without pressure

I am very clear about one thing, i want my business to support my life!

In 2026, my goal is financial consistency.

Not through burnout.

Not through fear.

Not through accepting work that does not align.

But through clarity, consistency, and trust in what I offer.

A business that supports real life

My goals are not only about work.

I want my business to support a full life outside of it. Time to rest. Time to step away without everything feeling fragile.

I also have practical goals that directly support my work. One of them is investing in a bigger car that fits my business better.

For in home newborn sessions, I carry a lot with me, props, blankets, wraps, and everything needed to create a calm and safe experience for families. Having a car that comfortably fits my equipment matters, It makes my work smoother, less stressful, and more sustainable.

These things matter to me. They are part of building a business that works in real life.

Closing thoughts

2026 feels like a year of claiming space.

Space to be busy in a way that feels good.

Space to work with people who respect my process.

Space to create without fear.

Space to grow a photography business rooted in calm, trust, and real connection.

I am not chasing perfection.

I am choosing alignment.

Working together in 2026

If you are based in London, South London, Bromley or Beckenham and you are looking for a photographer who works gently, calmly, and with intention, I would love to hear from you.

Birth photography holds a very special place in my work. Being invited into those first hours, quietly documenting strength, tenderness and transformation, is something I do with deep care and respect.

I also offer maternity and in-home newborn photography for families who want a relaxed, unhurried experience in familiar surroundings.

If my approach resonates, you are warmly invited to get in touch and start a conversation about your pregnancy, birth or newborn session.

I believe the right work begins with the right connection.

With Love,

Deborah xxx
