A Season of New Life, Light, and Love

The air feels different in June, doesn’t it?

I always feel the shift in my bones — the longer, slower days, the golden haze that kisses everything, the way the flowers seem to bloom just for you. As a Leo, I live for this time of year. The energy, the warmth, the sense that something beautiful is always just about to begin. And in my world — full of bellies, babies, and brave women — June feels especially sacred.

To be honest, May was an emotional ride.

We celebrated two birthdays in our home — joyful, love-filled days with cake and cuddles and the kind of chaos only family can bring. But alongside the joy, there were tears too. I received heartbreaking news about babies in my wider circle — and it reminded me how fragile and precious life is. By the time the calendar turned, I was ready for a reset. Ready to breathe deeply, to soften, to root myself again.

As a Reiki practitioner and crystal healer, I found myself reaching for grounding stones in my collection, drawing quiet energy into my mornings, asking the universe for a gentle, fresh beginning. And June answered. Softly. Slowly. With golden light and little signs of hope everywhere.

This morning, I lit a candle, poured my coffee, and sat at my desk with fresh flowers blooming beside me. I thought about the mamas I’ve photographed lately — rocking their newborns in quiet nurseries, holding space for the tender, powerful act of becoming. June is their month too.

It’s more than just the start of summer. It’s a time for birth. For transformation. For honouring how far we’ve come… and what’s just ahead.

This is the season of expecting

There’s something about photographing a mama-to-be in June that just sings. The light is soft but rich, the gardens and parks are lush, the vibe is peaceful and full of promise. Whether you’re standing in the stillness of my cosy Beckenham studio — where I always cleanse the space with intention, crystals tucked into corners and energy set for calm — or wrapped in the comfort of your own home, maternity sessions in this season are absolutely magical.

I always say — the ideal time for maternity photos is around 34 weeks. That’s when your bump is round and glowing, and you’re still feeling a little more like yourself (though I see the beauty in every stage). And truthfully? There’s no wrong time. If you’re further along, or feeling unsure, you’re still welcome in front of my lens. Always.

These sessions are never rushed. Never forced. Just gentle guidance, soft posing, and real emotion — the kind you’ll want to remember forever.

June also brings new beginnings...

And oh, how I love meeting the tiniest humans as they make their grand, sleepy entrance into the world. There is something deeply special about in-home newborn sessions in the summertime. The rooms are bright and warm. The energy is relaxed. You don’t even have to leave your home — I bring all the coziness, blankets, wraps, and care to you.

Before I arrive, I take a moment to ground myself — holding space with breath, intention, and the energy of love and protection. It’s part of how I work, quietly but meaningfully, to honour this sacred window of new life. The session becomes more than a photo shoot. It becomes a moment of peace in the swirl of early motherhood.

I serve families across Beckenham, Bromley, and South London, and every session is baby-led, slow, and sacred. Whether they’re wide awake or fast asleep, every moment we capture is full of soul. I watch closely for the little sighs, the curled toes, the way they nestle in mama’s chest like they never want to leave. This work makes me emotional, even now, after so many years. Because I know — these days are fleeting. And I want you to remember them forever.

June reminds me why i do this work

There’s something about this month — its brightness, its softness, its becoming — that mirrors what I witness every time I pick up my camera.

Birth.

Motherhood.

The quiet power of love expanding.

As a photographer and long-time doula, I’ve stood beside so many women in the most tender, raw, and miraculous moments of their lives. I’ve cried behind the camera. I’ve whispered encouragement. I’ve held babies and hands and stories. And as a healer, I’ve learned how to honour the energy in the room, not just the light. And I don’t take a single second of it for granted!
